Anchorwoman, Reporter at NBC 10
After four years as an anchor and reporter in Boston, Alison Bologna returns to NBC 10 News to anchor its new 7 p.m. show with Dan Jaehnig and to report with Jim Taricani on the I-Team. She also anchors NBC 10 News at 5:30 with Gene Valicenti.
At Fox 25 News in Boston, Alison covered stories in virtually every part of the state and delivered live breaking reports on all major news events including the death of Ted Kennedy and the Red Sox World Series' win. When not on live breaking news, Alison also filed special reports on various topics including consumer issues, crime, public safety, religion and state politics and scandals.
In Providence, Alison's live reports have included all major breaking news events including the deadly fire at The Station Nightclub, and several of her investigative reports resulted in reforms at local and state levels. Notable reports from her first NBC 10 stint include exposing holes in sex offender registry lists, overcrowding in state juvenile detention facilities, and a Vietnam Veteran claiming to have earned his most prestigious medal, when in fact, the Army never issued it to him; after Alison broke that story, President Bush signed a bill into law to take the veteran's name off a Rhode Island post office.
Before on-air reporting, Alison worked at NBC News in New York City for several years where she field produced undercover reports at Dateline NBC as a member of its investigative team. She also field produced hour-long specials for NBC News, including two specials in the weeks following the September 11th Attacks.
Alison has received many honors and awards for her work including: an Emmy Award, an Edward R. Murrow Award, two Associated Press Awards, a Gracie Allen Award, an Investigative Reporters and Editors Award, and two Clarion Awards.
Alison has recently been named by the Providence Business Journal as one of the "40 Under 40" professionals in the Ocean State.
Alison graduated with honors from Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism and earned her undergraduate degree from Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism. Presently Alison attends Harvard University and is completing a second master's degree in English and American Literature and Language.
In her free time, Alison enjoys teaching yoga during the week in her immediate, Rhode Island neighborhood. When time permits, Alison also writes for different publications. Her first piece of fiction has been published in The Harvard Summer Review, and she has done some non-fiction work for Rhode Island Monthly Magazine.
