EWG, Woonsocket win state titles

» 0 Comments | Post a Comment

Four more teams were at Cranston Stadium Sunday looking to earn a Rhode Island High School Super Bowl crown.

Division 2

In Division 2, Woonsocket tangled with Mount Hope. The Villanovans took an early 7-0 lead when senior running back, Jon Barr, hustled four yards past the goal-line for the score. Mario Turcios would catch the fever as he takes a run of 22 yards for a touch down of his own.

Woonsocket wins 19-0 the final score as the Villanovans are the Division 2 Ocean State Champions.

Division 4

The Division 4 Super Bowl served host to a highly anticipated match up between Middletown and Exeter West Greenwich.

The Scarlet Knights had no problems Sunday thanks to a very strong defensive effort. Junior defensive tackle, James Reed, absolutely hammered the Islander's quarterback, which draws a fumble and is grabbed by Brian Philibert, who then hustled 47 yards for a touch down. Exeter West Greenwich rolls 42-28 the final en route to the Division 4 State Crown.
