Man faces child rape charges

A former Westport man is accused of raping a child, Westport police said Monday.

Police said Christopher Dupuis, 44, surrendered last week after investigators searched for him at several relatives' homes.

Dupuis was charged with two counts of child rape, one count of assault with the intent to commit indecent assault and battery and intimidation of a witness.

Police said the alleged victim is a relative of the suspect who says she was raped when she was 11. She is now an adult.

Police said the woman told her family about the alleged rape in 2006. But investigators said no one told police until last week.
