Swansea switched to full-day kindergarten beginning in September and school officials said it is paying dividends.
The principals of the Hoyle School and Gardner School made a presentation to the school committee showing this year's students are learning at a faster pace then last year's students.
This year's students know their alphabet already and are learning to read and write, while the students last year would only have half their alphabet down.
According to The Herald News, students have 511 school hours this year, compared to 182 hours last year.
