Somerset Police Chief Joseph Ferreira said a reported robbery at a Domino's pizza store in town was faked by two workers.
The workers, identified as Jacqueline Eaton, 19, of Somerset, and Arthur Pereira, 24, also of Somerset, reportedly staged the robbery to steal money from the business.
Eaton, the manager, said the alleged robbers, described as being hooded and masked, forced her at gun point to provide the combination to the safe and then stole money from the safe and lockers.
She told police the alleged robbers used bolt cutters to cut off locks during the robbery. Eaton also told police she was tied to a rack during the robbery. The driver on duty reported he found Eaton tied to a shelf when he returned from deliveries. Eaton said just over $1,000 was stolen.
Somerset police subsequently began an investigation. After interviewing and conducting surveillance on suspects throughout Christmas week, police were able to identify potential suspects.
As a result of the investigation, police learned Eaton and her boyfriend, Pereira, had staged the robbery in order to steal money from the business.
Both suspects have been charged and will be arraigned Tuesday.
Pereira's mother is also being charged with obstruction of justice for protecting her son during the investigation. She will also be arraigned Tuesday.
