Authorities say a 13-year-old Providence boy has died after being pulled from a Massachusetts
pond over the weekend.

 Police said Nathan Scott failed to surface after jumping into Tispaquin Pond in Middleborough on Saturday afternoon. 

Officials at a Middleboro campground said the boy apparently did not know how to swim.  Witnesses said they saw  the boy jump off the dock Saturday afternoon but he never surfaced. After about a half hour search they resuced the body. Crews found the boy in water about 9 feet deep.

Police said he was flown to Children's Hospital in Boston where he was pronounced dead.

There are no lifeguards on duty at the pond.

The death remains under investigation.
