A Tiverton teenager died from injuries she suffered after being thrown from a horse.
Police told The Newport Daily News that 19-year-old Cayla Almy died Sunday.
Police said Almy and a relative were riding on a trail behind Ranger Elementary School when the horse was spooked and Almy was thrown. She suffered serious head trauma and died at Rhode Island Hospital.
Almy was a 2011 graduate of Tiverton High School, where she was a cheerleader. Grief counselors were being made available at the school.
A guidance counselor said Almy had been taking courses at Bristol Community College in Massachusetts.
