Charlestown official sues town over firing

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A town councilor has sued Charlestown over her 2010 firing as parks and recreation director.

The Westerly Sun reported that Lisa DiBello said her firing was in retaliation for her role in a 2006 sexual harassment investigation at Town Hall. She said the Town Council conspired with Town Administrator William DiLibero to dismiss her.

The 34-page lawsuit, which was filed in Washington County Superior Court, accuses nine current and former officials of retaliatory acts.

In May 2010, councilors voted to fire DiBello. DiLibero said at the time she was unable to work cooperatively with others, verbally attacked co-workers and led a "self-centered campaign" against town management.

DiLibero, who has previously denied DiBello's conspiracy allegations, declined comment to the newspaper.
