State police say 48-year-old Marilyn Rodriguez was struck at about 2:30 a.m. Saturday by a hit-and-run driver but suffered only minor injuries.

Two troopers who were patrolling the area witnessed the accident.

Officials say Rodriguez was waving down a car when she was struck by a speeding vehicle.  Troopers found that car a short distance away and arrested the driver and charged him with DWI, failure to stop, injury resulting.

Rodriguez was taken to Rhode Island Hospital where she was treated and released.

The suspect was expected to be arraigned at the state police barracks.
