Rehoboth police aren't saying much about an alleged assault Monday that injured a middle school student.
After rumors about the alleged assault started to surface, the school released a letter to Rehoboth parents.
In the letter, obtained by NBC 10, the school's principal assured parents that an investigation into the incident is ongoing and that no other students were in danger.
The incident began after a basketball game at Beckwith Middle School on Monday.
One student was injured and then transported to the hospital. NBC 10 is told that that student was treated and then released.
The letter told parents, "We are working closely with the Rehoboth Police Department and are investigating all the information received. We assure you that after our preliminary analysis of the situation, no other students are in danger."
The circumstances on how the student was hurt and the extent of his or her injuries is still unclear.
Police would not confirm whether another student was arrested.
