Fall River Catholic girls school to go co-ed

»  Comments | Post a Comment

The only all-girls Catholic school in Fall River is going co-ed.

Seton Academy for Girls announced last week that it will start admitting boys this fall.

School president Nancy Sturchio told The Herald News that the decision to admit male students was made as the school's enrollment declined. It was also partially due to families who want to send their sons to the same school their daughters attend.

The school has 54 students in kindergarten through eighth grade.

Seton Academy was started in 1999 and works independently of any parish.

Sturchio said parents were surveyed before the move and that only one plans to pull a student from Seton as a result of the decision.
