A Rhode Island mother convicted last year of strangling her 8-year-old daughter says she's "not a murderess."
Kimberly Fry told a judge on Friday that the outcome of her 2011 second-degree murder trial was a "horrible, horrible injustice."
Fry was in court to ask for a new trial.
She is scheduled to be sentenced on March 23 for killing her 8-year-old daughter Camden in 2009 after the girl refused to take a bath.
Fry also fired attorney Joseph Salvadore during the hearing. The North Kingstown mother hired Salvadore last month to replace the public defenders who handled her trial.
"I feel as though Mr. Salvadore is not representing me or my desires," Fry said. "I am prepared right now to argue on my behalf for a new trial, all that was here, not all this baloney that has been put forward."
Fry faces up to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years.
