State police on Thursday arrested a former Central Falls High School teacher who was under investigation for inappropriate behavior.
Emma Wise, 22, was charged with one count of procurement of alcohol for a minor and two counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She pleaded not guilty in Providence District Court and was released on personal recognizance.
State police said Wise took five teenagers to a Pawtucket liquor store in October and drank with them in a park after a school football game.
Investigators said one student admitted to a sexual relationship, but no charges were filed because the student is over the age of consent.
"Our staff and school community are disheartened by this situation, but proud of the students who came forward and cooperated with police so that the matter could be investigated and resolved appropriately," superintendent Frances Gallo said.
Gallo said Wise was put on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation and that she resigned.
