YMCA officials have released the details of a proposed new facility at the Bayside "Y" in Barrington.
Phase one will include the construction of a new aquatic center with a six-lane pool and "family splash" area. There will also be new locker rooms and an upgraded lobby.
The new "Y" will be fully accessible for members in wheelchairs.
Phase one of the project is expected to cost about $6.4 million. Work will begin in the fall.
Because it will be done in phases, parts of the "Y" will remain open while the work's being done.
Fundraising for the project is ongoing.
