Chemical to be removed from soil in Attleboro neighborhood

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Work is underway to rid the area of a carcinogenic chemical in Attleboro's North Avenue neighborhood.

The Sun Chronicle reports that the Environmental Protection Agency has had crews cutting down trees.

They're getting ready to excavate contaminated soil.

The chemicals leached into the ground through water from the former Walton and Lonsbury Chrome Plating company, on the west side of North Avenue.

Some residents are being relocated while the work is taking place.
