Shelter overloaded with animals

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Each day at the Providence Animal Rescue League, more and more animals are brought in but not enough are being placed in good homes.

Workers at the shelter say both the economy and the recent weather are to blame.

There are more than 70 animals in all.

Cats, dogs and birds abandoned or surrendered by their previous owners all need loving homes. Only 20 animals have been adopted.

The shelter is now pleading for the public's help.

Shelter workers say the overcrowding has gotten so bad that as of Saturday morning only seven cat cages were available. On one day, the shelter took in an overwhelming 16 cats within a half an hour.

Anyone interested in adopting a pet can call the shelter at 401-243-6040.
