A new affordable housing development is under construction in North Smithfield.
The Marshfield Commons will feature 17 buildings, with 38 rental units in the area of Mechanic Street.
The project is being built on eight acres of land, of which 75 percent will be maintained as open space.
New England Construction is the company working on the project.
