Hundreds of needy students around Rhode Island received Christmas presents Thursday thanks to teachers and school employees.
The National Education Association of Rhode Island held its 20th Gingerbread Express, packing up and distributing donated gifts to more than 2,000 children.
According to the NEARI, wish lists included not just toys but basic necessities like shoes, socks, coats and blankets.
