Police officer convicted of disorderly conduct

»  Comments | Post a Comment

A Coventry police officer was convicted Monday of disorderly conduct.

Alfred Ferretti was accused of engaging in inappropriate behavior with women he met while working a construction detail.

The women testified in Kent County Court that they were "disgusted and shocked" by his alleged behavior.

The women said Ferretti entered a Coventry home on June 11, took off his gun belt and gun, a fluorescent traffic vest, and his hat -- and then exposed himself.

The women said the incident was unsolicited. They testified seeing the officer earlier in the day at the traffic detail and offering him a coffee. Unbeknownst to them, he showed up later at one of their homes in a marked cruiser.

Ferretti is appealing the decision, but he will be on probation for six months.

The court ordered him to have mental health counseling and no contact with the women.

Due to protections under the Police Officer's Bill of Rights, Ferretti is still on the job, receiving full pay and benefits. His employment will be handled after the criminal case is over.
