PROVIDENCE -- A Boston man was convicted in Rhode Island of killing a member of a rival gang outside a Providence nightclub.

Dana Gallop was convicted Wednesday of first-degree murder in the shooting of 24-year-old Anthony Parrish of Boston outside Club Passion in December 2008. Gallop, 25, was also convicted of an assault charge of injuring another man in the shooting.

Judge Robert Krause did not immediately schedule a date for sentencing.

Prosecutors asked Gallop to be classified as a habitual offender for sentencing purposes, which could mean additional prison time under state law.

Gallop was returned to prison after his conviction.
