The chief executive of Weaver's Cove Energy was at the Rhode Island State House on Tuesday to defend his company's plans for a liquefied natural gas terminal in Mount Hope Bay.
Gordon Shearer was given a chance to speak before a special Senate committee staffed by legislators who are mostly critical of the company's plans to develop the $700 million LNG facility.
Critics say the terminal is an unnecessary danger along the seacoast.
Weaver's Cove officials said all the safety issues regarding the project have been addressed.
