A performer for Cole Brothers Circus was released from Newport Hospital Sunday following an accident during a performance on Friday.
A spokesman for the circus told NBC 10 News that performer Jose "Super Kellan" Bermudez was shot out of cannon during a show at about 7:30 p.m. when he was injured.
Bermudez is now back with the circus. Their next stop is Monday in Mansifield, Mass. but officials said he would not be performing for a few day.
Initially, a representative from Cole Brothers Circus said crews misjudged the shot, and that Bermudez landed on a concrete floor. The statement was later corrected saying Bermudez landed in the net, then some how hit the floor.
The 35-year-old performer is one of eight people in the world who make a living getting shot out of a cannon. Bermudez is from Florida.
Officials said the circus will continue with its performances throughout the weekend.
