BOSTON -- A Coast Guard aircrew on Wednesday assisted with the rescue of four men who were aboard a tug boat that sank off the coast of Jamaica.

A Cape Cod-based HU-25 Falcon jet crew was dispatched by the command center in Miami, after receiving a radio beacon alert. The U.S.-flagged boat, Betty, sank on Monday, approximately 50 miles north of Jamaica.

The Falcon located a life raft with the four men near the vessel's last known position. A Jayhawk helicopter dispatched from the Coast Guard Air Station in Clearwater, Fla. hoisted the four men aboard the helicopter.

The men were taken to U.S. Naval Hospital Guantanamo Bay in Cuba. Their conditions were not immediately known.

A search for a fifth crew member was conducted, but rescuers were unable to find him.
