HARTFORD, Conn. - Authorities said a high school student has been killed after a school bus collided with a car on a Hartford highway, crashed through a guardrail and slid down an embankment.
Officials said the male victim from Rocky Hill attended the Greater Hartford Academy of Mathematics and Science, a regional magnet school. Police declined to release his identity.
In a statement, an academy official said two adults and 15 students were also injured in the accident Saturday on Interstate 84 westbound. State Police Lt. J. Paul Vance said the other injuries aren't considered life threatening.
Authorities said the crash with a station wagon came at about 8 a.m. as the bus carried the students to a robotics competition at
Farmington High School.
Vance said the accident's cause remained under investigation.
