NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. -- Police said five people were injured during an appearance by Disney star Selena Gomez at the Emerald Square Mall Saturday afternoon.
Witnesses told NBC10 that large crowds overloaded an escalator as fans tried to get a glimpse of Gomez. Police said in a report that the people were injured as they were riding
the escalator near the Sears store.
The Sun Chronicle reported the escalator suddenly lurched to a stop, throwing several people off their feet.
Mall officials shut down the escalator as a precaution.
The injured parties were treated. Three were transported to area hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
