RI gets first electric car recharging station

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Rhode Island has its first electric car refueling station, now the state just needs some electric cars on the road.

The $10,000 ChargePoint electric recharging station opened Wednesday in the parking lot of Cardi's Furniture Superstore in West Warwick.

Peter Cardi says the company is working ahead of the curve. Even though there are few electric cars on the state's roads now, more will be made commercially available in the near future and they will need plugin points.

He says the availability of charging stations may spur some people to buy electric vehicles.

Al Dahlberg, president of ProjectGetReady, tells The Providence Journal that electric cars are better for the environment and reduce reliance of foreign oil. He says the state could eventually have as many as 10,000 electric car recharging stations.
