CCRI evacuated after chemical spill

WARWICK, R.I. -- The main campus building at CCRI in Warwick had to be evacuated after a chemical spill in one of the chemistry classrooms.

Campus police said about a half gallon of sulfuric acid was spilled in the main campus building at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Warwick fire and a hazmat team responded to clean up the extremely corrosive liquid, H2S04.

The main building was evacuated at CCRI and classes cancelled.

Campus officer David Broccoli says no injuries were reported.
