CRANSTON, R.I. -- A Cranston man was arraigned Monday on charges that he tried to make more than $1,000 in purchases after stealing a wallet from a nursing home.

Paul Zazzaro, 38, was ordered held without bail.

An employee of Cortland Place in Smithfield reported the theft last week.

Smithfield and Cranston police arrested Zazzaro at a house on Smith Street on Friday.

Police said he used credit cards from the wallet to make those purchases.
