CRANSTON, R.I. -- A Central Falls city councilwoman pleaded not guilty Friday to a drunken driving charge.
Councilwoman Eunice Delahoz was arrested recently in Lincoln on drunken driving charges. According to the arresting officer, she tried to use her councilwoman status to get out of being arrested.
According to the Lincoln police report, Delahoz was pulled over near Great Road and Smithfield Avenue because officers saw her "traveling on the double yellow line with two tires in the northbound lane and two tires in the southbound lane … and swerving."
The police report said Delahoz opened her window and "was holding what appeared to be a gold badge."
She showed the badge a second time.
At first Delahoz refused to open the door. Eventually, she did.
When asked for her license, the police report said she replied, "I'm on the Central Falls City Council and mumbled that this is not her car."

She also didn't have her license on her. Police said it was suspended last year, but she claims it was reinstated.
The arresting officer saw a 10-year-old boy sleeping in the back seat of the car. He is not identified in the report.
Delahoz smelled of alcohol, according to the officer. She said she had three glasses of wine at a reunion.
She failed all the field sobriety tests and refused a chemical test.
Delahoz had little to say after her arraignment.
"Thank you for asking, but again, I do not have any public comment at this time," Delahoz said.
