The first clinic in Rhode Island to integrate behavioral and primary health care has celebrated its grand opening in Providence.
The clinic is located at the Providence Center on North Main Street and is staffed by a medical team from the Providence Community Health Centers. Its aim is to serve people who have both primary care needs and behavioral health problems, including mental illness or substance abuse disorders.
Research shows that people with behavioral health problems live 25 years less on average than the general population because of chronic but preventable illnesses.
