Baron, players receive A-10 honors
Kingston, RI- Head Coach Jim Baron and three members of the Rhode Island men’s basketball team were honored by the Atlantic 10 as part of its postseason all-conference awards.
Baron earns his fourth career A-10 Coach of the Year award. The only coach in A-10 history to be named Coach of the Year at two different league schools, Baron led the Rams to a 22-9 mark in the regular season, including an 11-5 record in league play. Picked to finish ninth in the conference coaches preseason poll, Rhode Island enters this week’s Atlantic 10 Championship seeded second.
Seniors Jimmy Baron and Kahiem Seawright earned All-Conference honors. Jimmy took home first team, while Kahiem was named 3rd team.
Junior Delroy James was also awarded as the A-10’s Sixth man of the year.
Rhode Island opens play in the 2009 Atlantic 10 Championship on Thursday evening at 6:30 p.m. The second-seeded Rams will face either #7 Duquesne or #10 Massachusetts.
