The Moses Brown girls’ tennis team will play Smithfield in the Division II semifinals after the Rhode Island Interscholastic League overturned Moses Brown’s forfeiture on Friday.

The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday at Smithfield High School, according to RIIL.

The two teams were supposed to play each other Thursday night.  But because of administration issues, the Quakers were unable to attend and the match was forfeited, RIIL Executive Director Tom Mezzanotte said.

Mezzanotte said the decision to overturn the forfeiture was based on the fact that none of the issues were the students’ fault.

Moses Brown finished atop Division II with a 12-1 record.
