FOXBOROUGH, Mass. - The New England Patriots have acquired wide receiver Greg Lewis from the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for an undisclosed 2009 draft pick.

The Patriots also received an undisclosed 2010 draft choice from Philadelphia in the deal for Lewis, a six-year veteran who caught a touchdown pass in New England’s 24-21 Super Bowl win over the Eagles in the 2004 season.

Lewis caught a career-high 48 passes for 561 yards the following season, but he’s caught only 24, 13 and 19 passes in the last three seasons, respectively.

The Patriots are thin at receiver behind Randy Moss and Wes Welker. Jabar Gaffney, who played in many of the team’s three-receiver sets, signed as a free agent last week with the Denver Broncos.
