BOSTON - The Boston Celtics have suspended guard Gabe Pruitt for two games after he was arrested in Hollywood for misdemeanor drunken driving.

In a statement Friday, the team said the second-year guard was being suspended for “conduct detrimental to the team.“

In that same statement, Pruitt said he knew his behavior was “inappropriate,“ and that he accepted the consequences.

Pruitt was detained early Thursday, hours after the Celtics lost to the Los Angeles Clippers. Police said he was stopped at a green light and that his Mercedes S550 had dark tinted windows that are illegal in California.

Police said Pruitt failed a field sobriety test.

The second-year player is averaging 2.3 points in 8.8 minutes per game this season.
