BOSTON—The Boston Celtics’ championship rings arrived not in Boston, but in Rhode Island on Tuesday.

Southwest Airlines’ NBA branded 737 ‘Slam Dunk One’ arrived at T.F. Green Airport in Warwick early Tuesday morning.

Two briefcases filled with the rings were delivered upstairs to former Celtics great JoJo White for Tuesday night’s pre-game festivities.

The Celtics will receive their championship rings and raise their 17th NBA title banner to the rafters prior to the regular-season opener against Cleveland.

The Celtics have the same starting five as a year ago—Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Kendrick Perkins and Rajon Rondo—but will need to find a replacement for swingman James Posey who left for New Orleans.
