NEWPORT, R.I.—Pat Cash of Australia defeated Jim Courier to defend his singles title at the Hall of Fame Champions Cup on Sunday.

Cash defeated the American 6-3, 6-4 in the championship match at the International Tennis Hall of Fame. It was Cash’s second career victory on the Outback Champions Series, the global tennis circuit for tennis players age 30 and over.

The 1987 Wimbledon champion took home $60,000 from the purse of $150,000. His victory at Newport last year was also over Courier — and also 6-3, 6-4.

Playing in his 13th career Outback Champions Series final, Courier was seeking the first professional title on grass courts in his career. The 1993 Wimbledon finalist and four-time major winner still earned $30,000 and 800 ranking points to move to No. 1 in the series.
