BOSTON—Boston Bruins forward Milan Lucic is recovering from surgery to repair his broken right index finger.

The operation on the 21-year-old Lucic took place at Massachusetts General Hospital on Sunday, two days after he was hurt against the Dallas Stars. He was placed on injured reserve.

Lucic, who has no goals and three assists in six games, signed a three-year contract extension on Oct. 6 despite having a chance to become a restricted free agent after this season.

In his two full NHL seasons, both with Boston, he had 25 goals, 44 assists and 225 penalty minutes in 149 games.
