Boys lacrosse state champs crowned

Three high school boys lacrosse teams were crowned as state champs on Sunday. All of the games were at Rhode Island College.

In Division 1, Moses Brown’s Wesley Hardman scored to lead the Quakers to a 10-5 win over Hendricken. The state title was the first for Moses Brown, in its first year in the Rhode Island Interscholastic League.

David Appolonia also scored for the Quakers. Edward Pekalski scored for Hendricken.

In Division 2, Mount Hope dethroned the defending state champion Mount St. Charles 12-5.

Nilton Alves and Nathan Avedissian each scored for the Huskies.

In Division 3, Cumberland’s Brad Camiel scored in overtime to give the Clippers a 5-4 win and spoiled Middletown’s bid for an undefeated season.
