FALL RIVER, Mass.—Will Flanagan was elected mayor of Fall River on Tuesday.

Unofficial results from the city Board of Canvassers showed Flanagan with 10,874 votes to challenger Cathy Ann Viveiros’s 7,090 votes.

Flanagan will replace one-term Mayor Robert Correia, who lost in the city’s preliminary election.

Flanagan, 29, will apparently be the youngest mayor to serve in the city of about 90,000 people. He told NBC 10 his priorities will be public safety, education and job creation.

Flangan is currently an assistant city solicitor in Taunton.

Voters also cast ballots in City Council and School Committee races.

The Board of Canvassers said 18,221 voters turned out.  The city said 47,910 people were eligible to vote.
