PROVIDENCE—The Rhode Island Supreme Court on Thursday upheld the victory of Michael Pinga, a West Warwick baker, in a disputed state Senate race.
The court declined to consider any further appeal in the District 9 Democratic primary. The Board of Elections had declared Pinga the winner over incumbent Sen. Stephen Alves after two recounts.
Alves’ sought a new election, citing alleged irregularities during the election. He said he would not launch a write-in campaign.
Alves was the powerful chairman of the Senate Finance Committee.
Secretary of State Ralph Mollis said ballots for the November election are being printed.

This is a great victory for RI democratic process. And kudos to the local baker Mr Pinga for stepping up against all odds, and winning.
While he had every right to persue his lawful challenge, Alves can now go find something else to do, it’s not the end of the world.
Pinga Wins! Alves LOSES!
The RI Supreme Court has finally denied Alves’ appeal!
The AG’s Office noted that the State Police Investigation found NO EVIDENCE of VOTER FRAUD.
So, can the taxpayers of RI now go after Alves and his Attorney for filing a false suit and recoup the cost of this baseless charade?
Even though we have a budget deficit, they pursued their appeal based upon ever changing “facts” that have been proven to be false and unsubstantiated.
How much did this cost us?
