RI lawmakers to return in September

PROVIDENCE—State lawmakers in Rhode Island will return to the State House the first week of September to finish business from earlier this summer.

House Speaker William Murphy and Senate President Teresa Paiva-Weed settled on a timetable during a meeting Friday.

Murphy’s spokesman Larry Berman said the Democratic legislative leaders did not set an exact date or decide which bills will be considered.

Still unresolved are pending bills that would close a legal loophole permitting indoor prostitution, remove the phrase “Providence Plantations” from the state’s name and allow for the direct election of interim U.S. senators.

Murphy ended a series of marathon sessions last month by saying lawmakers would return for a day in July. Berman said summer vacations and other conflicts prevent lawmakers from meeting before September.

catlady…..you got that right.  I watched them on cable over the weekend because I had nothing to do.  They were voting on fire dept’s across the state spending even more money on wuipment with no money in the budget….another unfunded mandate.  Reps. TRILLO, WATSON were making total sense that taxpayers could not afford to pay for these measures….the House voted 58-9 approved spending more money.
More money in a STATE that is BANKRUPT!!

This weekend RISC has their annual meeting—Aug 1st at the Hyatt Hotel in Newprort—9-11 and it’s free.  Chech these folks out..www.risc-ri.org…we need to throw these people out of the STATE HOUSE and reclaim our state.  I will be looking at the entire state house cast of characters and break it down for you this upcoming week.  It is infiltrated with teachers, former firefighters, union rep’s, and others who consistently vote against the taxpayers best interest…..stay tuned!!

Dear Lord! How can they abandon such a sintilating agenda?  These clowns should take the rest of their terms off to avoid any further havoc that they create, and give the taxpayers a flippin break.  Hope they all go abroad on vacation and get lost.

The time off is actually needed to buy new school clothes.
They perform well doing “nothing” while in “session”. You have to look good doing “nothing”. HURRY BACK!!

To all others: Register to vote!

William Murphy and Teresa Paiva-Weed need to kicked to the curb with the rest of the political hacks in this STATE.

I see nothing wrong with the General Assembly taking and even longer break.

They already have shown they do not want to or have the politic will to create a business environment that will generate high paying jobs.  RI is one of the most taxed states in the nation; I think this explains why we also have one of the highest unemployment rates.

Since they don’t want to solve the economic problems, I rather have then take a very long break that way they can not do any more harm.
