RI GOP official resigns over Wilson outburst

PROVIDENCE - The chairman of the Rhode Island Republican Hispanic Assembly and member of the Republican Central Committee says he has quit the GOP because he was embarrassed by South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s address to Congress on Sept. 9.
Wilson shouted “You lie,“ when President Obama said illegal immigrants would not receive benefits under his health care plan.
Ivan Marte tells The Providence Journal that Wilson’s behavior was “shameful” and “uncivilized.“
Marte says he has been disenchanted by the GOP since Gov. Don Carcieri ignored his advice concerning the 2008 executive order cracking down on illegal immigration.
State party chairman Giovanni Cicione says Marte’s contributions to the party were valued and he’s disappointed by the resignation.

This competition is unfairly biased against American students in other states who must pay out-of-state tuition to attend the university, while the illegal alien student is given in-state tuition preference.
What does Republican marte’s Resignation have to do with this Bill.

Let me say Barack Obama is a great man.
Let me say that the Republican party has shown there true colors for eight years and don’t have the trust of the American people. It’s more than apparent.
I got caughtup in this election even though I wasn’t old enough to vote. I was proud of us all screaming at the top of our lungs that we need change.
With his wonderful charsmatic speeches he told us all that were going to have to sacrafice that it wont be easy. OK bring it on lets do it.
Then the stimulus bill: The defining moment that broke my heart. And nobody can make me believe that it didn’t break our Presidents heart. For the camera’s he smiles and thanks them for there patriotism and hard work and then… To have to make consessions to the Democrats like Pelosy for these outrageous projects.Why? So congressmen and women can make there constituants, the ones who fund there re-election happy.
We’re at war financially and many in congress are more interested in (understandably) there jobs. This is a system thats broken.
In the 1600’s Oliver Cromwell desolved parliment and England began a reinsurgence of its country. In that time they did what Barack Obams wants to do to America. Congress must let go of there careers and serve our country not themselves.

Blueeyes you are right on some of your points however we are not in a formal setting negotiating who’s the better of the two major parties if we where I would have respect but it’s a free for all they throw a rock I throw a branch they throw a boulder I start a landslide simple as that.
Not all other countries are run by dictators and Obama dosn’t want to run everthing in this country so don’t start spewing out untruths (lies) to make a point blueeyes he is trying to fix a health care system that has been screwing the American people from day one the premium rates have increased ten times the ammount of inflation the past five years and that is one of the many reasons why I and the majority of the people in this country voted for him .
So back to the original topic that another Republican quit the party because of racial concerns and thats saying it as nice as your going to get from me. The Republican party is in a downward spin not only in this state but the country because that have completly lost touch of what the majority of American voters want.

Congressmen Howard Berman (D-CA) and Lincoln Diaz-Balart (R-FL), announced the reintroduction today of the DREAM Act in the U.S. House of Representatives. This legislation will restore the States’ rights to determine residency requirements for higher education benefits – giving states the option to provide in-state tuition. The American DREAM Act seeks to facilitate access to postsecondary educational opportunities for immigrant students in the United States who currently face barriers in pursuing a college education.
And…the barriers will be that there illegal.

By your responses here, you appear the one whom is ignorant. Listen to yourself, you are discriminating against all the Republicans. Do you really honestly believe that the Democrat’s are the only ones looking out for the welfare of us American citizens? Please take some time to absorb what O’Bama has already done and really listen to what his proposals are regarding OUR future. They’re are some decent Dem’s, Rep’s & Independents who legitimately fight for what is right for us. Then you have the corrupt others, they don’t care about what is good for us, they will walk away in a few yrs, most of them have money, so they’re set for life with state benefits. People are scared right now, they are trying to pursuade the Democrats to vote for what is best for us, yet the WH blows it off and some have said, they aren’t listening to US, they will vote for whatever O"Bama wants! Take a minute, try to understand what I am saying, does this really sound like America the free?

He took away ways to get info on terror attacks, but didn’t replace. He is definitely bankrupting America. Read the news, people have lost their homes, jobs, no food, but yet, let’s tax them to death, and their children and future grandchildren. I am an independent who is taking the time here, not to fight you, but to help you see these things in a different light, not in a defensive, argumental confrontation. I will just say the Republican party just lost another member and possibly the whole Hispanic vote in Rhode Island but just in case it escaped you I did post excerpts from his Resignation letter in my earlier post and I will be looking forward to your transcripts.
Also the Dream act is being pushed by the colleges, over five hundred of them to be exact,and most private Colleges are Republican based again the Republicans want the aid but they don’t want it on there watch it’s called shady politics, research where the Bill is coming from it is easy to do.
I don’t hate America I love this country with all my heart my family has a long military history fighting and dying for our freedoms however the only thing that bothers me it has Racist Republicans in it, thirty eight percent registered and dropping like a Rock.

Good job! I glad to see that you look up facts, to back up what you say. Earlier today, I sent in a post, but of course, they wouldn’t publish it. I was not bashing a Republican. It was writen from the heart, and not offensive in any way at all.
I guess, that most of the posts that you will see get published here, are if they somehow attack the Republicans.
