RI GOP official resigns over Wilson outburst

PROVIDENCE - The chairman of the Rhode Island Republican Hispanic Assembly and member of the Republican Central Committee says he has quit the GOP because he was embarrassed by South Carolina Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst during President Obama’s address to Congress on Sept. 9.
Wilson shouted “You lie,“ when President Obama said illegal immigrants would not receive benefits under his health care plan.
Ivan Marte tells The Providence Journal that Wilson’s behavior was “shameful” and “uncivilized.“
Marte says he has been disenchanted by the GOP since Gov. Don Carcieri ignored his advice concerning the 2008 executive order cracking down on illegal immigration.
State party chairman Giovanni Cicione says Marte’s contributions to the party were valued and he’s disappointed by the resignation.

Chesapeake, that seems to be the trend these days, Mr. Marte is not alone in branding anyone who disagrees with his ideology an idiot Republican.
I have one more opinion why Mr. Marte did this, maybe the least, but a reason nonetheless. The “plight” off illegal aliens has been out of the limelight lately. This has gotten that topic back into discussion.

PROVIDENCE — Governor Carcieri yesterday signed a six-point executive order he said will enable “a vast array of state government agencies” to address illegal immigration in Rhode Island.
He said he did so because the federal government has dropped the ball on immigration reform and left state taxpayers to pick up what he said are the considerable costs of illegal immigration.
The State is now going after them in a big way and he’s standing next to the Govenor with a baseball bat!
This doesn’t look too good for him if he wants to continue his political career. This Joe Wilson thing was his way to slip out.
Why that doesn’t wash with me is because he’s branding all the Republicans with the act of one idiot.
I don’t like his thinking.

He was cordial with blueeyes, he said a few good things but and he also stated that he disagreed with her on some things too! I do think it’s kind of cute how you are flirting with her. Nothing wrong with that! 
Well anyway, why would a chairman step down and give such a lame excuse for his reasons - because someone shouted & apologized for a comment they made. There must be another reason as to why this weak chairman has stepped down, besides trying to look like he respected the President.
