PROVIDENCE—Rep. Patrick Kennedy has postponed or canceled all scheduled events this week following the death of his father, Sen. Edward Kennedy of Massachusetts.

Kennedy’s spokeswoman, Kerrie Bennett, said Monday that all of the congressman’s events this week have been put off.

The Rhode Island Democrat had been scheduled to hold a town hall meeting on health care on Thursday.

On Wednesday, he was supposed to deliver the keynote speech to a group of college administrators on preparedness for swine flu.

The elder Kennedy passed away last week. Rep. Kennedy spoke at his father’s funeral on Saturday in Boston. The senator was then laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery.
