All-night gambling approved for Twin River
Published: November 4, 2009
PROVIDENCE—- Rhode Island will allow the struggling Twin River slot parlor in Lincoln to offer gambling around-the-clock.
Twin River spokeswoman Patti Doyle said Wednesday that the facility hasn’t decided when its schedule will change. State Lottery Director Gerald Aubin authorized the expanded hours earlier this week.
The video slot machines at the gambling hall provide the state’s third-largest source of income. Twin River is already open around-the-clock on weekends and holidays.
Twin River’s owners filed for bankruptcy protection in June while struggling to repay $500 million in debt. Gov. Don Carcieri agreed to support 24-hour gambling as part of a restructuring plan.

LOL, Sounds like a recipe for real economic success. Just imagine enjoying the spa, oh wait they don’t have one. Well you could always enjoy the room service, oh wait no hotel. Well at least the old lady’s with the oxygen tanks smoking a pack of cigarettes an hour will enjoy the extended hours. It’s the states money they gamble with anyway.
I have also and I trust the ones I know completely!! Guess we had different experiences. They are still not as corrupt as some of our higher up officials. The fact is twin river is one of the worst business deals this state could have gotten involved with. Now they are letting them stay open all night because they can’t pay their bills including what they owe to the state. It was the only option to keep the money flowing. Lets see if it is worth paying the electric and employees amongst other bills staying open all night will create. I don’t think they will get enough people there all night to warrant being open all those hours. People who want to gamble all night want tables not just slots. I would rather have a fully functioning casino. Guess I’ll go play my tables in Ct. with the rest of my fellow RI’ers.

After all of this what was wrong with letting the Indians build their casino in RI?
Because the “Indians” (lol) can not be trusted. I know, I grew up with them…
After all of this what was wrong with letting the Indians build their casino in RI? At least we would have had tables and more than not a higher income than the sinking twin rivers. They are only allowing it because they owe the state and their lenders so much money and its the only way they can try to break even. Politics and the most corrupt state in this country. It never amazes me the things that happen in this state. Guess our government thinks we really need to live up to our reputation. I will keep going to the Ct casinos as they are more exciting than twin rivers.
Waite a minute, i thought we are not a gambling state!..go figure!
i agree with Ask. They need tables. Not everyone likes to put money in a machine and press a little button. They want some FUN! Just go ahead and make it a casino already! geez Its headed that way anyway.
Twin Rivers will not be taken seriously until they allow tables. People will continue to drive to CT.
Do you think anyone gives a rats behind about the people in Lincoln….......“HHHHHHHHHHHell no”....
I just cant wait til they put in the hotel so all those out of work prostitutes from the massage parlors will have somewhere to work…..
Awsome News! The more gambling the better. Increased income for the state and more entertainment as well. It’s about time. Maybe less people will spend their money in Connecticut now. We could still use another casino or two so we can really compete. But this is good news though. Very happy about it.
What about the multiple times the question of gambling at Twin River has been put to the voters of Lincoln? I have lived in Lincoln over 20 years and have voted several times on different issues concerning gambling at that facility and each time the people of Lincoln say NO!!!! We said we didn’t want a casino and we got the slot parlor anyway. We said we didn’t want 24 hour gambling and they somehow were able to get the weekends open 24 hours and now the lottery commission doesn’t even feel they need to ask they will just do what they want. And what about the benefits and tax relief from the slot parlor? I must have missed the memo on that one because I certainly haven’t seen any tax relief. Hmmm weren’t they suppose to build some baseball field/complex as the town is so short of field space??? It must be hidden because I have never seen it.
