WASHINGTON—Rep. Patrick Kennedy has returned to the House to cast a vote on a major global warming bill.
Kennedy spokeswoman Kerrie Bennett said Friday the congressman had left the medical facility where he was receiving treatment because he wanted to vote on an issue he considers important for Rhode Island as well as the nation.
Kennedy was expected to return to the undisclosed facility after the vote to continue his treatment.
The congressman, who has struggled with depression, alcoholism and addiction for much of his life, checked into the facility earlier this month. The son of Sen. Edward Kennedy has called his treatment “a lifelong process.“

So, Is this what our congressional delegation has been reduced to?
The four amigo’s all voting in lockstep; with one who runs off overseas every time he’s challenged on something (Whitebread) and the other one (The Patrick) conveniently hiding at a clinic somewhere; being trundled out to make the “Important (To Whom??) votes.
I feel like I’m playing a sick game of “Whack the Gopher”.
Sorry for mispelling your screenname, pollynana.
Pollyanna—I happen to agree with your statement that the poor don’t pay as much tax—but the rich work the system to their advantage in order to pay almost nothing as well compared to their income.
Ypou conveniently forgot the middle class—which is whom I said is taking a beating from all the taxes. Please don’t put words in my mouth and further, please include ALL classes—middle class too—in your suppositions.
There are way fewer wealthy people than there are poor people, or people who choose to work the system and not work for a pay. The rich people have been bearing the brunt of tax revenues to the tune of 60%. How you can justify saying that the government hasn’t been taxing the rich simply bears no truth. The flip side of that is that the rich have resources in which to diversify their income to AVOID paying lots of taxes, taxes that the poor aren’t required to pay simply because they don’t have the income to tax. What you are stating is what the liberal media wants you to believe. Well, I think we can both sit back and see how your theory works out. The less you work the more you will benefit.
What spin? Generally speaking, what I said is how it is.
We can vary on opinions and put our own “spin” on things, but congressional records speak facts for themselves.
Hey Polly - you can forget the natural gas and electricty too. They won’t let it come near RI or Mass because they are afraid of terrorists blowing up the tankers. And Teddy doesn’t want to spoil his view from Hiannis.
The only difference is that Democrats want to tax us all to the end—rich and poor alike—to make their social programs into a reality while republicans want to give the well off the break and tax the middle and lower class to run the government.
The Democrats give the pie away to the poor and make the rich and middle class pay while the republicans want the middle class and the poor to foot the bills and give the rich a free ride.
The republicans favor the rich, the Democratrs favor the poor. Either way the middle class loses out—so for the middle class THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE.
Smitty: I appreciate your point, and you almost make a great one. There are very few “good” politicians out there, and by that I mean moral, law-abiding (tax paying) God fearing men who believe in the Constitution, honor and the flag. They are few. Check the congressional voting record that almost always run along party lines, and you’ll see what the difference is between democrats and republicans.
It isn’t the democraps or the repukeblicans—its the politicians in general that think its all right to let all manufacturing jobs leave this country for China. Reagan started the ball rolling, the first Bush kept it going, Clinton didn’t do anything to turn it around, Dubya just added to it with the phony war, and now Obama figures we can dig stairs out of the hole without making the hole deeper.
You people who blame political parties for all the troubles in this country aren’t solving the problem—you’re just adding to it!
