Carcieri names new parole board chair

PROVIDENCE -- Gov. Don Carcieri has selected a new chairman of the state Parole Board.

Carcieri on Thursday named Kenneth Walker to the position, effective Aug. 29. He will replace Lisa Holley.

Walker has been on the board for 28 years. He has previously served as chairman and most recently has been vice chairman.

Walker is a retired education professor at Rhode Island College and past president of Big Brothers of Rhode Island.
