Lieberman: Possible McCain running mate?

John McCain may tap a fellow maverick politician as his running mate.

The Financial Times reported that McCain is looking at U.S. Sen. Joseph Lieberman of Connecticut as a possible vice president.

The paper, citing an unnamed adviser, said McCain and Lieberman share similar views on Iraq, Israel and other issues.

Lieberman, who ran as Democrat Al Gore's running mate in 2000, won re-election to the U.S. Senate as an Independent in 2006.

Lieberman's office declined comment, but it has dismissed the possibility of the senator running as a vice president  in the past.
