BARRINGTON, R.I.—A Barrington student has been chosen as one of the nation’s top 30 promising young scientists by the Society for Science and the Public.

Fiona Paine, 13, has been invited to compete in the society’s prestigious annual science fair.

She is the first Rhode Island student to be chosen.

Her project looked at ways to create low cost solar cells and make them more efficient.
