Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick is proposing a new type of public school.

Patrick said he wants to turn dozens of existing public schools into something he calls "readiness schools."

According to The Boston Globe, the schools would use innovative teaching styles and be allowed to deviate from state curriculum guidelines and union hiring practices.

The governor's office released few specifics about the schools or where they would be located. It said the proposal will be officially unveiled in two weeks.
